Misty Golden

Founder

As a public historian, Misty is focused on preserving and promoting Northeast Texas history through archival research, exhibit curation, oral history, and community-centered programming. She holds an M.S. in History with a Certificate in Public History, a B.A. in Anthropology, and brings hands-on experience creating interpretive exhibits, heritage-tourism tools, and digital outreach that connect communities to their past. Misty’s key strengths are archival accessioning and digitization, oral-history collection and transcription, public history centered writing, exhibit research and planning, GIS-based heritage marketing, grant support, and social media/visual content for public programs. She enjoys partnering with local governments, museums, historical commissions, and schools to make history accessible, engaging, and useful for community preservation, development and tourism.

Misty is a member on the Cass County Historical Commission, where she holds the position of Heritage Promotions Chairperson, and recently joined the Atlanta Lions Club.

She and her partner, Bob, own and manage an historic homestead in rural Cass County. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, antiquing, and spending time with their rescue dogs and spoiled chickens.

Robert Killion

Principle Heritage Consultant

Robert “Bob" Killion is a Secretary of the Interior–qualified Historian and Architectural Historian, as well as an experienced museum professional with more than 26 years of work in history, museums, historic preservation, compliance, and history education. His expertise includes historic preservation planning and compliance under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

Throughout a diverse career spanning more than four decades, Bob has held leadership and management roles in the Army Reserve, private industry, higher education, museums, and FEMA. He holds a Master of Science in History, a Master of Arts in Museum Studies and Administrative Leadership, and a certificate in Historic Preservation.

Bob is passionate about preserving and sharing history, with particular interests in collections management, digitization, public access, and living history. His dedication extends beyond his professional work—he has personally restored several historic homes and remains deeply committed to preserving the stories and places that connect us to the past.

Today, Bob lives in a historic dogtrot log home in rural East Texas with his partner in all things, Misty, four dogs, five guinea fowl, and more chickens than he cares to count. When he has free time, Bob enjoys classic cars, living history reenacting, computer gaming, carpentry, and antiquing.
